Money (Stressed about)

Lord, I’m here, before You, because I’ve made some bad decisions that have stretched my finances to the breaking point. I’m starting to recognize that some of this is my own greed and pride. Your Word reminds me not to be anxious about anything.1 But Lord, let’s face it, I’m worried… But, that’s why I’m here, bring my worries, my fears, and my requests to You. Help me to trust that with every concern I lay at Your feet, I can receive the peace that surpasses all understanding.2 Teach me to recognize that financial challenges do not determine my worth or my future.

Holy Spirit, please guide me as I confess my weakness and need. Enable me to be a witness of Your provision.3 But also, bring opportunities to share, just as Your Word instructs, “Give, and it will be given to you”.4 Lord, help me open my heart and hands, freeing me from the fear of scarcity. Remind me that Your blessings will flow to good measure, pressed down and running over. I acknowledge the call to love my enemies and to bless those who may wish me harm.5 In doing so, I free myself from resentment and open my spirit to Your kindness. Teach me the spirit of generosity, that in giving, I may find joy and satisfaction, even in poverty; for You have said, “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the Kingdom of God”.6

Lord, help me to be wise in my financial decisions. Let Your guidance reign in my heart as I consider the teachings about stewardship.7 Allow me to recognize that true wealth is not measured materially but in the richness of our relationships and in the depths of our faith. Finally, I grasp hold of Your promise in Malachi, believing that as I honor You with my resources,8 You will pour out blessings beyond what I can imagine, in Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
