Abused (as a child)

Jesus, You know full well what happened in my past, so it’s no mystery that I feel wounded, ashamed, and at times unforgiving. I’ve read the scripture many times: You heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds.1 That is exactly what I need. I’m so tired of carrying these burdensome scars.

Please help me accept and believe when You said I will strengthen and uphold you with my righteous right hand.2 And that You have invited me to come to You when I am weighed down. You offer rest for my soul, and I long for that rest now. Your yoke is easy, and Your burden is light.3 Help me release the weight of the hurt and the shame, trusting that You are my healer and comforter.

I believe that the suffering of this present time, no matter how deep, cannot compare to the glory that will one day be revealed.4 You are the God of all comfort, and You comfort me in my affliction so that I may one day comfort others who walk through similar pain.5 I know that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit.6 Your Spirit is upon me, Lord, to proclaim liberty over my heart that has felt bound by the memories of abuse. Bind up my brokenness. Set me free from the prison of my past.7 I cast all my anxieties upon You because I know You care for me.8

I trust in Your plans for me, Lord, plans for a future filled with hope and peace, not destruction.9 Guard my heart and mind with Your peace as I lay my hurts before You in prayer.10 Thank You for Your healing power and Your endless love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
