God, I spend much of my time hiding… even now, I feel as though something horrible is about to happen. It comes and goes, but much of the time, I’m wrapped in fear. You know that my wounds are deep, but I know that You are close to the brokenhearted and that You save those who are crushed in spirit.1 Lord, You have anointed Your people to bind up the brokenhearted and proclaim liberty to the captives, and I ask for that freedom and restoration today.2 In the pain and weariness of my heart, I cling to Your promise: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”.3 Lord, I need Your rest, Your peace, and Your healing touch. Surround me with Your presence, and let Your gentle Spirit restore my soul.
You are the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our afflictions, so that we may comfort others.4 I lay my anxieties and burdens before You, knowing that You care for me deeply.5 Please heal my heart and help me to release all the hurt and shame that weighs me down. Thank You, Lord, that when the righteous cry out for help, You hear and deliver them from their troubles.6 You have promised to heal the brokenhearted and to bind up their wounds, and I stand on that promise today. I trust that no matter the depth of my suffering, You will deliver me and protect me from further harm.
Even though this pain feels unbearable, I trust in the hope of glory that will be revealed to me.7 Wipe away every tear from my eyes. Bring me to a place where mourning and pain will be no more.8 Help me remember that You have good plans for my life; to prosper me and give me hope for the future.9 Lord, lead me beside still waters and restore my soul.10 I trust You to walk with me through this valley, comforting me every step of the way.
