Anger (Deliverance From)

Jesus, You know that controlling my anger is a challenge; I’ve even been angry with You at times. Well, it’s affecting so many areas of my life that I desperately need Your help. Your Word tells me to be angry and not sin, not to let the sun go down on my anger.1 My uncontrolled anger has given the devil a foothold, and I need Your strength to overcome this.

Lord, help me to be wise and not give full vent to my emotions but to quietly hold back in wisdom.2 Teach me to be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, knowing that the anger of man does not produce Your righteousness.3 I desire to put away all forms of anger, wrath, and malice from my life4 and to speak with gentleness,5 refraining from anger and forsaking wrath, for it only leads to evil.6 Grant me the grace to be slow to anger, for it is a sign of great understanding, and help me to avoid the folly of a hasty temper.7 Remind me of Your words, Lord, that being angry without cause brings judgment.8

Father, help me to let go of vengeance and leave it to You, knowing that You have said, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay.” Instead, empower me to overcome evil with good, to extend kindness even when wronged.9

Give me the strength to overlook offenses, for it is to my glory to be slow to anger.10 I trust in Your power to heal my heart and restore peace to my soul. Help me surrender my anger to You, so I may walk in the love, peace, and righteousness You desire, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
