Death (Fear of)

My Father, with death at my doorstep, You know how I’m feeling; it’s no secret that I’m afraid. So, please strengthen my faith that You right here to help. Your Word assures me that even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I need not fear any evil, for You are with me.1 Thank You, Father for that promise, which brings me comfort and helps to calm my anxiety.

Lord, You know that death can be overwhelming, but I hold onto Your truth that I should not fear those who can only take my physical life.2 Instead, I will fear You, who has the power over life and death. Help me to remember that through Christ, You have conquered death, offering me the hope of eternal life. Jesus said that whoever believes in Him has passed from death to life.3

Your Word reminds me that You have not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.4 May Your love cast out the fears that threaten to overwhelm my heart.5 When I feel anxious about what lies beyond this life, remind me of Your truths—that death shall be no more, and You will wipe away every tear.6 Help me to trust in Your goodness, knowing that You are my shepherd, leading me beside still waters and restoring my soul.7

I seek Your comfort in my distress, as I cry out to You, knowing that You hear my pleas and will deliver me from all my fears.8 Strengthen me when I feel the weight of fear bearing down on me, may I turn to You in prayer, finding peace that surpasses all understanding.9 Thank You, Lord, for the hope of resurrection and eternal life through Your Son, Jesus Christ. I lay my fears at Your feet, trusting in Your unfailing love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
