Deception

Jesus, I confess that I’ve allowed myself to be deceived into believing a lie and half-truths. Your Word warns that evil people and impostors will continue to deceive themselves and others,1 well they’ve certainly clouded my understanding and judgment.

Lord, help me to recognize the unfruitful works of darkness and give me the strength to not entertain or partake in them.2 I desire to be vigilant, aware of the hypocrisy and false teachings that can lead me astray.3 May I, like the Bereans, test everything against Your scriptures, discerning what is true and what is not.

I pray for discernment when confronted with teachings that stray from Your path, especially those masked as truth but filled with hypocrisy. Keep me from following false prophets who promote heresies, denying the salvation You provide.4 Help me to analyze my relationships, reminding me that bad company corrupts good morals.5

I seek Your wisdom in identifying the things in my life that do not align with Your will. If I have been misled in any area—relationships, or beliefs— reveal these to me so that I can turn back to You. I don’t want to live under the illusion of righteousness while neglecting justice, mercy, and faithfulness.6

With Your grace, help me to embrace the truth that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of eternal life is found in Your Son, Jesus Christ.7 As I seek Your guidance, cleanse me from the deceptions I’ve allowed into my heart. May I walk in Your light and truth, relying on Your eternal wisdom.
