Difficulties & disappointments

Jesus, I’ve been told, not to focus on circumstances but to do my best to keep my eyes on You. Me being here, right now, is me doing that—as best I can. But the difficulties are demanding my attention. So, I want to pray: Your Word reassures me that in this world, I will face tribulation, yet I can find peace in You because You have overcome the world.1 Help me keep my eyes on this truth as I work to count these trials as joy.2

Thank You for growth that comes through suffering and the endurance that shapes my character. Remind me that this character develops hope, a hope anchored in Your unfailing love poured into my heart through the Holy Spirit.3

Grant me patience and the assurance that after I have endured, You, the God of all grace, will restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish me.4 I surrender my anxieties and disappointments to You, asking that with every prayer and request I make, I entrust my burdens into Your capable hands. Fill me with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guiding my heart and mind in Christ Jesus.5

In moments when the weight feels particularly heavy, I claim Your invitation to come to You for rest. Thank You for being gentle in heart, welcoming me to take Your yoke and experience Your light burden.6 Help me not to fear, for You are with me; let me rest in the assurance that You will strengthen and support me in my struggles.7 When I feel cast down or in turmoil, remind me to hope in You and to praise You, for You are my salvation.8 I trust in Your promise that many are the afflictions of the righteous, but You will deliver me from them all.9 Thank You for Your presence and comfort. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
