Divorced

Jesus, brokenhearted only begins to describe how I’m feeling. It’s also upsetting that what was once great turned into something so sour and bitter. However, bitterness, I choose to resist! I also choose to guard against any form of hate or anger. As I move forward from my divorce. You promised to be near to the brokenhearted and to save those who are crushed in spirit.1 I cling to that promise now. Lord, my heart feels heavy, and the future seems uncertain, but I trust that You are here with me, ready and willing to carry my burdens. Help me release the pain and regrets of the past, to not dwell on what has been but to look forward with hope. You are doing a new thing, even when it feels impossible to see right now.2 Strengthen me, Lord, and help me believe that You have good plans for my life, plans filled with hope and a future.3

In the moments when I feel overwhelmed, I turn to You, asking for Your peace to guard my heart and mind.4 Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, fill me as I surrender my anxieties to You.5 Teach me to trust in Your wisdom and to lean on You, even when I don’t understand the path ahead.6 I pray for wisdom as I make decisions in this new chapter of my life, knowing that You generously provide guidance when I ask.7

Lord, You have invited me to come to You when I am weary and burdened, promising rest for my soul.8 I lay down my pain and fears, knowing that You are ready to give me rest. You remind me that all things work together for good for those who love You.9 Help me to see this situation through Your eyes, trusting that You will use even this for a greater purpose in my life. I find hope in the promise that one day You will wipe away every tear, and all pain will pass away.10 Until that day, let Your love heal my wounds. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
