Dear Jesus, I’m here with You to confess that I’m often gullible and willing to believe in anyone or anything other than You. False religions and enticing, deceitful teachings are so readily available, surrounding us every day. Your Word warns about false prophets and teachers. It was a constant battle for the Israelites, listening to destructive heresies that distort Your truth in the Word of God. It continued after the Cross, with false teachers trying to discredit Your Son, Jesus Christ.1
Grant me discernment to see through the deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons that pervade our world,2 giving me the knowledge I need to protect myself and those I love. Help me to stay vigilant to Your Word of truth so I will not be led astray. Give me the ability to recognize those who cause divisions and create seducitons contrary to what I know is true.3
Help me to avoid such distractions, standing firm in the truth of Your Word. I acknowledge that false apostles can disguise themselves as servants of righteousness.4 Help me to test every spirit and teachings against Your truth, ensuring I remain steadfast in my faith and relationship with You.5
Help me to remember that Your people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge.6 Teach me to seek and embrace the truth continually, deeply rooted in Your Word and equipped to stand against the lies.
May I find my strength in the understanding that Jesus is “the way, the truth, and the life”.7 Lord, guard my heart against the allure of false teachings keeping me anchored in Your truth. I trust in Your promise that You will lead me and protect me as I seek to walk in Your light. Thank You for Your love and guidance, in Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
