Freedom (Lack Of)

Father, God, I’m here with You, again, weighed down by my lack of freedom. My failings and sinful behavior has me locked in chains of condemnation; I’m trapped in a cycle of disappointment. Nevertheless, I turn to Your Word which says that we should not continue in sin, but instead, we have died to sin and can walk in newness of life’. That’s exactly what I want, to embrace truth and the freedom You alone offer.

Lord, I confess the times I have felt overwhelmed by sinful desires and habits that keep me from living fully in Your light. I know that You have set me free for freedom’s sake,1 and I ask for the strength to stand firm and not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Help me to put away falsehood and to walk in truth, both with myself and with others.2 When I feel the pull of temptation, remind me that each temptation is common to man, and that You are always faithful to provide a way of escape.3 Teach me to recognize the desires that lead me astray only bring forth death—spiritual and emotional—while Your Spirit provides life and true fulfillment.4

Lord, as You guide me through my struggles, I pray for Your peace to replace my feelings of anxiety and discouragement. Your Word reminds me that You are my Shepherd, and I shall not want. You lead me beside still waters and restore my soul.5 Help me to lean into these promises and to find comfort in Your presence, especially during difficult times.

I want to resist temptation and grow in my faith and knowledge of You, knowing that Your divine power has granted me all things pertaining to life and godliness.6 May I hold tightly to the hope of my imperishable inheritance7 and live each day with purpose, reflecting Your love to those around me. Thank You for being my refuge and strength, in Jesus’ name.
