Grateful

My Lord, too often I don’t take the time to express gratitude. I owe literally everything to You. Every breath and heartbeat; even the difficulties are for my benefit. I know this because Your Word reminds me to “give thanks in all circumstances”.1 We both know that not all “circumstances” are easy, so, I ask for Your help in cultivating a heart of gratitude, trusting Your divine plan for my life.

I thank You for the countless blessings You’ve bestowed upon me—life, breath, and the beauty of creation. Your Word tells me “every good and perfect gift is from above”.2 Help me recognize these gifts and see Your hand in every aspect of my life. Even in difficult times, I know “all things work together for good”,3 shaping my character and deepening my dependence on You.

I want to “enter Your gates with thanksgiving and praise”,4 acknowledging that I belong to You. Let my life reflect a spirit of thankfulness, as I remember Your steadfast love and faithfulness, which have carried me through every season. “I will recount the steadfast love of the Lord”5 and never forget how You have provided, protected, and guided me.

Lord, let my gratitude be expressed not only in words but also in actions. As I receive Your blessings, help me share generously with others, “storing up treasures in heaven”.6 May I do everything in the name of Jesus, giving thanks to You.7 Most of all, I thank You for the greatest gift—Your Son, Jesus Christ, through whom I have received salvation and the promise of eternal life. Let my gratitude fill my heart with joy and my mouth with praise. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
