Lukewarm for God

Dear Lord, I come to You today, admitting that too often I’m lukewarm in our relationship, but in my deepest soul I long for a deeper, more vibrant faith. Your Word warns against being “neither cold nor hot”‘, that is not who I want to be. So, I’m asking that You ignite a passion in my heart to fully love You.

Help me to remember that true faith requires action, and that “faith without works is dead”.1 I want my faith to be visible in my actions and decisions. Guide me to put away my complacency and to actively seek ways to live out Your teachings in my life. I know that “the Lord knows those who are his”,2 and I want to be counted among them.

When I struggle with distractions or doubt, remind me that You have a purpose for my life according to Your plans.3 Help me to lean into this purpose, seeking Your guidance in all that I do. I recognize that only through You can I find the strength to overcome the temptations that pull me away from a faithful walk. Your love fills my heart, for “perfect love casts out fear”.4 In Your presence, I find peace, and I know that as I grow closer to You, my faith will deepen. Teach me to be diligent and steadfast, for I desire to reflect Your character in every aspect of my life.

Lord, instill in me a desire to encourage others in their faith, recognizing that part of being faithful is nurturing the faith of those around me.5 In my interactions, may I shine Your light and lead others to seek You as well.

Thank You for Your endless grace and the promise that we can approach You boldly in prayer. I trust You to work in my heart and to help me grow into the faithful servant You call me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
