Jesus, You know that I learned to lie to get my own way. It is a defense mechanism; trying to avoid ridicule and harsh criticism. But now, it’s a habit that serves no purpose. You are truth and You us to behave the same. I acknowledge that lying lips are an abomination to You.1 Forgive me, Lord, for the times I have allowed a lying tongue to influence my actions, words, and heart. I know that You hate falsehood and that a lying tongue is counted among the things You detest.2
Father, I am aware of the destructive nature of lies and how they separate me from Your presence. Help me to remember that no one who practices deceit shall dwell in Your house.3 I ask for Your strength to put away falsehood and to speak truthfully, as we are all members of one body.4 Renew my heart and mind so that I may live in honesty and integrity.
Lord, I recognize that nothing hidden will remain concealed. All things will come to light.5 I choose to step into the light of Your truth, forsaking the father of lies.6 Transform me, Father. Help me to embody the image of Christ, who is truth itself.
I pray for Your Holy Spirit to fill me with courage, so I may be honest in all areas of my life. Help me to bear witness to Your truth and to avoid bearing false witness against anyone.7 Cleanse me, Lord, and remove any deceit that has taken root in my heart. I seek Your guidance to keep my tongue from speaking evil and my lips from speaking deceit.8
I thank You, Lord, for Your promise that if I confess my sins, You are faithful and just to forgive me and to cleanse me from all unrighteousness.9 I choose to walk in truth, trusting that the truth will set me free.10 Thank You for Your forgiveness and the grace that allows me to stand blameless before You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
