Manhood (Lack Of Identity)

Father, I call out to You today, searching for answers and reassurance regarding my identity as a man who reflects You. Your Word tells me that “God created man in His own image”, and I seek to understand what that means in my life. Help me to adjust my view toward the truth that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and that my identity is rooted in You.

Lord, I desire to live out the fullness of my identity as part of a chosen race, a royal priesthood, and a people set apart for Your glory.1 Teach me what it means to proclaim Your excellencies and to reflect Your character in all aspects of my life. Help me to remember that in Christ, I am a new creation, and the old has passed away.2 I ask for Your guidance as I navigate the complexities of masculinity in today’s world. Help me to understand that being a man involves strength, love, and responsibility.

Your Word reminds me that “if anyone does not provide for his relatives, he has denied the faith”,3 and I want to fulfill my role in my family and community with diligence and care.

Please instill in me a desire to work heartily, not for the approval of others, but as for You.4 I want to be a man who builds up and empowers those around me, especially my family. Help me to be patient and understanding, remembering Your guidance to not provoke my children to anger5 but to raise them in Your discipline and instruction. Father, remind me that I am not alone in this journey, for “You did not choose me, but I chose you”.6 Help me to find confidence in my calling and to know that I am valued for who I am in Your eyes.

Finally, strengthen my resolve to live in accordance with Your Spirit, glorifying You in my body and actions.7 Thank You for recognizing me as Your child and for the plans You have for my life, which were laid out before I was born.8 Amen.
