Media (Addicted to)

Father, I’ve realized I have an unhealthy attraction to media, in all its forms. It’s overwhelming the endless amount of content and subject matter available. If I’m not escaping into mindless videos, I’m seeking my self worth from social media “likes”, and so often wasting time, neglect important relationships and responsibilities. I’m honestly relying on something other than You. Ephesian 5:18 explains that I should not be drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but rather I should be filled with the Spirit.1 I ask for Your help in focusing my mind and spirit on what brings true life rather than what distracts me from You and those I love.

Lord, I thank You for the promise in Your Word that no temptation has overtaken me that is not common to man.2 I know many people face similar struggles, and I trust that You are faithful and will provide a way of escape so that I may endure. Help me to recognize the temptations that lead me to indulge in things that do not honor You or myself.

I desire to be strong and to take control over my habits, understanding that “the fruit of the Spirit is… self-control”.3 Guide me to a place where I can cultivate healthier habits and fill my time with activities that glorify You. Help me to test everything and hold fast to what is good,4 ensuring that my heart and mind are aligned with Your truth. As I seek healing from this addiction, I ask You to fill me with Your love, joy, and peace.5 Teach me to seek comfort in Your presence rather than in temporary escapes. When I feel the urge to turn to distractions, help me to turn to You instead. You alone provide true rest and fulfillment.

Thank You, Lord, for hearing my prayer and for being my source of strength in times of temptation. I trust that by following Your ways, I will find freedom and renewal in my life, reflecting Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
