Lord, when I read that You wept when You heard that Lazarus had died, I knew that you understand what it means to miss those we love. Your Word urges me to come to You when I am weary and burdened, promising rest for my soul.1 Lord, I find comfort in knowing that You are gentle and caring, and in my sorrow, you offer me peace. Even though I’m troubled, I trust in Your promise that You are preparing a place for us in Your heavenly home. You will reunite us, that where You are, we will be also.2 Help me to rest in that hope, especially when the longing for my loved ones feels overwhelming.
In times of anxiety and sadness, remind me to bring all my emotions before You in prayer and thanksgiving. Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard my heart and mind in Christ.3 I trust in Your nearness, for You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit.4 Thank You, Father, for being the God of all comfort, who comforts me in my afflictions so that I may also offer comfort to others.5 I find solace in knowing that neither life nor death, nor anything in creation, can separate me from Your love.6
Lord, I cast all my anxieties and pain onto You, knowing that You care for me.7 Strengthen me and uphold me with Your righteous right hand and give me the grace to trust that You are always with me, even in my grief.8
I hold onto the promise that You will wipe away every tear, and one day, there will be no more mourning, pain, or sorrow.9 Until then, let Your strength be the portion of my heart forever.10 In Jesus’ name, Amen.
