Lord Jesus, there’s a hole in my heart—a mother-sized hole. I know You can fill it! I know this in my head, but I need to know it in my heart. Even though You’re a man, You’re also the son of God and unlimited in abilities. So, I’m asking that you work to fill that hole with Your love. Please remind me of Your promise that I am of great value to You, even more than the birds of the air You feed without fail.1 Help me to remember that I am created in Your image and that my life holds purpose and significance in Your great plan.2 Amazingly, I am a part of that plan.
Lord, in this time of longing, let the wonders of Your creation teach me about Your care and provision. Just as You hold the life of every living thing in Your hands,3 help me to trust that You are also holding me close. When I feel lost, I look to nature as a reflection of Your steadfastness, finding comfort in the way You provide for all creatures.
In my affliction, let me not forget the call to care for others who are struggling. Remind me of my responsibility to help those in need, as Your Word instructs us not to ignore the burdens of those around us.4 May my grief transform into compassion so that I can reach out to others who are also experiencing loss.
As I navigate these difficult emotions, fill my heart with praise. Just as everything that has breath is called to glorify You,5 let my sorrow blend into praise, acknowledging Your goodness in every situation. You know the cries of the young ravens as they seek sustenance, and I trust that You hear my cries as well.6
Help me become a vessel of Your love, visiting those who are in pain, and extending kindness to the lonely.7 Thank You for being my refuge and strength during this time of loss. I find solace in knowing that not even a sparrow falls without Your knowledge.8 In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
