Father, every person who’s given You their life has a background, some skeletons in their closet. I let myself be drawn into the dark world of Satanic rituals and ultimately, “worship”; a world of lies and deceit. I’ve become increasingly aware of how my past involvement affects my relationship with You. Your Word clearly warns against turning to mediums and necromancers.1 I confess that I have sought guidance from such sources. That’s why I’m asking for Your forgiveness and deliverance.
In Deuteronomy, You warn against practicing divination and the abominations that come with it.2 I acknowledge that I have wandered down a path that was utterly contrary to Your will. I ask for the strength to reclaim my identity in You and to reject all forms of spiritual manipulation.3
I recognize the power of Your name, as demonstrated when Paul commanded the spirit of divination to leave the slave girl.4 Please liberate me from any remaining spiritual ties to allow Your light to shine brightly in my life. I’m done partaking of the table of demons. I refuse to miss the blessings You have in store for me.5 Help me to discern the true from the false, especially when Satan masquerades as an angel of light.6
You remind me that my battle is not against flesh and blood but against powerful spiritual forces.7 I ask for Your protection as I confront these dark influences in my life. Help me to remain sober-minded, knowing that my adversary prowls around looking for those he can devour.8
As I seek Your face and turn from my past, I trust You to redeem and restore whatever has been lost. Thank you for the promise of victory over all evil and for the assurance that Satan’s deception will ultimately lead to his downfall and destruction,9 in the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
