Lord, Jesus, I feel like I should spend some time praying, but I think I’ll do it this afternoon… JUST KIDDING! Lord, Jesus, I need help to be more in the moment- to do what’s in front of me and stop thinking about what else I could be doing. Procrastination is causing me to fall further and further behind in my life. When I believe “everything” is important, please help me learn how to prioritize myself. Your Word reminds me that “the soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied”.1 I want to be a diligent person and use my time wisely for Your glory. You have called me to, make the best use of my time, because the days are evil.2 Yet I often waste precious moments.
Father, I ask Your forgiveness and pray for strength to overcome procrastination. Your Word assures me that “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me”.3 Empower me to act promptly and with purpose, to be like the diligent worker whose hand will rule.4 I recognize that procrastination stems from lack of discipline. Your Word says, “Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad”.5
Speak Your good Word into my heart, replacing my anxiety with peace and hesitation with boldness. Help me trust in Your timing and remember that “we must work the works of Him who sent me while it is day”.6 Give me the wisdom to live life to the fullest, working for You with all my might.7
I pray for the discipline to stay focused on the tasks You have given me. Your Word teaches that all discipline yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.8 Train me, Lord, so I may not grow weary in doing good, knowing I will reap if I do not give up.9 I lay my procrastination at Your feet, asking for Your grace to overcome it. May my life reflect Your diligence and unwavering commitment to the mission You have entrusted to me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
