Rebellion

Jesus, I humbly turn toward You, and away from “me”. You are infinitely wiser than I am, so why would I think my plans are better? How about I just call it pride and rebellion? And we both know how that turns out…

You spoke to Ezekiel, reminding him not to be rebellious like those around him,1 which is why I now confess that my desires and pride lead me away from the perfect path You have for me. Please help me to remember that disobedience comes with consequences. I do not want to serve my fears, nor be burdened by the weight of my choices.2

Grant me the wisdom to serve You and what You have planned for me. I’m going to trust that it is good. I’m reminded of King Saul and his disobedience and the consequences of his rebellion. He was chosen but failed to listen to Your voice.3 I do not want to be like him, justifying my actions while neglecting Your commands. Help me to be obedient and to seek Your will above all else. Teach me to resist the temptation to manipulate or control my circumstances, understanding that true authority is established by You.4 In moments of temptation or when anger rises within me, remind me to leave vengeance to You, as You have promised that You will repay all wrongs.5 Help me find my refuge and strength in You, especially during these times of trouble.6

I ask for Your mercy upon my life as I seek to align my will with Yours. Your love draws me back when I wander and helps me to cultivate a spirit of humility. I long to be someone who honors rather than rebels, who listens and obeys, and who inspires others to seek righteousness. Thank You for Your patience and forgiveness. I trust that with Your help, I can overcome my rebellious tendencies and grow into the person You created me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
