Workaholic

Father, we’ve talked about this, nevertheless I’m here, now, because it’s not working. I like working; it gives me satisfaction, but let me add, at the cost of important relationships. I know you’ve said: Unless YOU build the house, my labor is in vain.1 I have been rising early and working late, feeding on MY efforts, but You promise rest to Your beloved.2 Forgive me, Lord, for allowing my so-called big plans to push aside Your will for my life.

Help me to keep my life free from the love of money and be content with what You have provided, knowing that You will never leave me nor forsake me.3 I recognize that I cannot serve both You and the pursuit of wealth, for no one can serve two masters.4 Teach me to be discerning and not to overwork just to acquire riches,5 knowing that true treasure is found in heaven, where my heart should be.6

You said: there’s a time for everything, a time to work and a time to rest.7 You established the Sabbath for rest, and I want to honor that by setting aside my work and focusing on You.8 Let me not wear myself out with endless striving, for much labor can weary the soul.9

Guide me, Lord, to work faithfully and diligently, but also to trust in Your provision, knowing that it is You who ultimately sustains and blesses my efforts. Help me to find joy in my work, but even more so in my relationship with You and those I love. Let my labor be done for Your glory, not for my gain.10 May I seek balance, finding peace and contentment in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
